So, two guys go camping. They set up their tent and fall asleep. Later, one of the guys wakes up and asks that other guy to look towards the sky and to tell him what he sees. The other guys says that he sees millions of stars. The first guy asks what that tells him. He replies that "Astronomically speaking, it tells me there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Astrologically, it tells me that Saturn is in Leo. Time wise, it appears to be approximately a quarter past three in the morning. Theologically, it's evident that God is all-powerful. Meteorologically, it seems we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. What does it tell you?" The first guy is silent for a moment, then he replies, "Somebody stole our tent."

Ever Stays Red - "Glorious"

"I can feel the way you are and I want more
Like a warm summer rain or the quiet after a storm
Rain down on me Your glory, Lord
Let my heart know the wonders of Your ways
‘Cause I remember being lost and alone
But before you now, I find myself with hope
Hope to dream of endless fields
And waves of green and be taken away
I'm taken away with You

As I look up at the sky on this glorious night
I can sense You here with me
Oh, I couldn't count the times I've allowed this sky
To remind me that You are glorious
God, You are glorious

It seems every single day I'm amazed
At the way this world reveals Your love
I couldn't ever find the words
To explain the ways in which You are glorious
God, You are glorious

And daily I will let my life be a tributeT
o the ways in which You are glorious

I wanna live in You
I wanna breathe in You
I wanna be all the things You've called me to
I wanna stay in You
Put my faith in You
I wanna let my life reside in You
Let glory rain down on me
Let glory rain down on me
Let glory rain down on me
Let glory rain down on me

As I look up at the sky on this glorious night
I can sense You here with me
Oh, I couldn't count the times I've allowed this sky
To remind me that You are glorious
God, you are glorious
And daily I will let my life be a tribute
To the ways in which You are glorious

Glorious
God, God, You are glorious
Daily I will let my life be a tribute
To the ways in which You are glorious"

November - Go to school and substitute teach at a Christian preschool
December - Graduate from the University of Nevada, Reno
January - Take a NOLS wilderness EMT course at Calvin Crest
February - Drive across the country to North Carolina to work as an outdoor education instructor for the Spring at a Christian camp

Crazy. Random. Exciting. Scary. God is leading and it is good.
"The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me." - Psalm 138:8

Hmm, North Carolina...never would have guessed that one.

steppable plants are nice

Monday, October 09, 2006

I got to see what is thought to be the oldest tree in the world this weekend while on a field trip for my mtn. geog. class. The tree is over 4730 years old, so it was already ancient when Jesus was walking this planet. It's kind of funny, though...they don't mark what tree it is, they just let you know that it is in a grove with 4 miles of trail going through it. So, we just had our guess at which tree it actually was.
